Professor Joshua Mok, Vice President of Lingnan University was invited by Peking University to speak at the “World University Presidents Forum & Beijing Forum 2018” successfully held from 4-5 May 2018 in Beijing. Over 250 presidents, vice presidents and distinguished scholars were invited to join the Symposium & Forum to celebrate Peking University's 120th Anniversary. The theme of the Symposium & Forum is "Changes and Constants: Universities and Civilizations during the Past 120 Years". Distinguished guests coming from leading universities across different parts of the world like University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, University of Edinburgh in the UK, Harvard University, Yale University, University of Chicago, University of California, LA, in the USA and others from Asia, Australia and Europe joined the events. Presidents and Vice Presidents from University of Hong Kong, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Lingnan University were also invited as speakers at the Forum.
Professor Joshua Mok, Vice President of Lingnan University gave a speech entitled: "Riding over Globalization and De-globalization: Promotion of Regional Cooperation for Asian Higher Education", with panelists from University of Warwick, American University of Sharjah, Lund University, University of British Columbia, Canada and Indiana University. Professor shared his research findings related to recent trends of higher education development in Asia Pacific Region and called for regional cooperation through the newly launched Alliance of Asian Liberal Arts Universities advocated by Lingnan University in November 2017. His speech was warmly received and Professor Mok was interviewed by local media in Beijing after his presentation. New academic links with leading universities were also developed during the Forum. For example, conversations between Professor Mok and colleagues from Graduate School of Education, Peking University and Faculty of Education, Cambridge University reached the agreement to promote inter-university research and PhD student exchange in higher education and governance.
