Lingnan High-Flyers programme nurtures global leaders

Through a series of dynamic and action-packed events in six months, the Lingnan High-Flyers programme concluded successfully in June.  This brought a fruitful learning experience to the programme participants.

With a generous donation of HK$600,000 from Tin Ka Ping Foundation, the Lingnan High-Flyers programme kicked off in January.  This is an exclusive and highly selective programme for outstanding Lingnan students, with the aim of nurturing their innovative and adventurous spirit as well as organisational, problem-solving and leadership skills. It is hoped that these entrepreneurial traits will help them contribute to the University and the community.

The programme received an overwhelming response and attracted 160 students to join.  After a series of professional training workshops, coaching sessions and a project competition, the students formed teams to execute their innovative projects that help solve local and global issues.  Eventually 15 elite students won the championship and were awarded a 3-day executive leadership training course offered by a renowned international training company.

Two international educational tours to China, Russia and Canada were also arranged for the 21 programme finalists in May and June respectively.  Apart from enjoying the landscape in Beijing, Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Winnipeg, and the students had the opportunity to exchange ideas with local entrepreneurs and universities associated with the Belt and Road Initiative.  In late June, Lingnan hosted a welcoming event for the students and staff from University of Manitoba in Canada and Hong Kong Community College who joined the educational tour to Canada, introducing the important role of Hong Kong in the Belt and Road Initiative.
