Appointment of Prof Alfred Chan Cheung-ming of Lingnan University as Chairperson of Equal Opportunities Commission

The Hong Kong SAR Government today (18 March) announced the appointment of Prof Alfred Chan Cheung-ming of Lingnan University as Chairperson of Equal Opportunities Commission for a term of three years commencing April 11, 2016.
 

 

Prof Alfred Chan Cheung-ming is currently the Chair Professor of Social Gerontology, as well as the Director of Asia-Pacific Institute of Ageing Studies and Office of Service-Learning at Lingnan University. Prof Chan possesses rich professional knowledge in social services, social welfare, elderly and minority issues, and also has an impressive public service record. He has been Chairman of the Elderly Commission since 2011, and is also an incumbent member of the Minimum Wage Commission, the Independent Police Complaints Council and the Health and Medical Development Advisory Committee.

Prof Chan feels honoured to be appointed, and hopes to lead the Equal Opportunities Commission to continue the promotion of equal opportunities in society and reduce discrimination.
