Closing Ceremony of the Shanghai-Hongkong Future Leaders (Lingnan Elites) Internship Programme

The Shanghai-Hongkong Future Leaders (Lingnan Elites) Internship Programme 2016 came to a close on 10 July.  At its closing ceremony on 9 July held in Shanghai, 30 participating Lingnan students shared their seven-week internship experience, and expressed their sincere thanks to employers and supporters who contributed to the success of the Programme.


Apart from attending internship in different enterprises, Lingnan students were arranged to meet CEOs in Shanghai, attend seminars at East China Normal University, join visits to Changning and Putuo districts, and exchange with the HKSAR Government’s Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai.  These helped broaden students’ horizon and enhanced their confidence. 

The closing ceremony was officiated by Mr Andrew Yao Cho-fai, Chairman of the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association and Council Member of Lingnan University, Dr Li Donghui, Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs) of Lingnan University, and Ms Victoria Tang, Director of the HKSAR Government’s Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai.  Apart from expressing her appreciation to the support of the Hongkong-Shanghai Economic Development Association, all participating enterprises and supporting organisations, in her remarks Dr Li encouraged Lingnan students to broaden their international horizon and perspectives in order to be better prepared for personal and career development in the future.

Representatives from the nine internship partners, including Mr Barry Leung, President of Always (Shanghai) Marketing Services Company Limited, Mr Vincent Fong, General Manager of Telford Wine & Spirits (Shanghai) Limited, as well as representatives from East Money Information Co Ltd, Mary Kay (China) Cosmetics Co Ltd, Nimble Mind, Shanghai Media Group Limited, Shanghai Oriental DreamWorks Film & Television Technology Co Ltd, Whaley and Winfopay Network Technology (Shanghai) Co Ltd attended the ceremony to share the joy of Lingnan students.

Success of the Programme was also attributed to the support from parties such as Shanghai Chinese Overseas Friendship Association, the HKSAR Government’s Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai, the Hong Kong-Shanghai Youth Exchange Promotion Association, Putuo District Overseas Friendship Association, Changning District Overseas Friendship Association and Shanghai Hong Kong Association.
