Lingnan University announces new Associate Vice-President (Academic Affairs) and other senior appointments

Lingnan University has appointed Prof Lui Hon-kwong, Professor and Head of the Department of Marketing and International Business, to succeed Prof Wong Yiu-chung as Associate Vice-President (Academic Affairs), effective from 1 July for a period of three years.  Prof Lui will be responsible for leading the academic development and planning of the University and overseeing the work of the Registry and the Core Curriculum and General Education Office.

 

Prof Lui joined Lingnan University in 1991.  His research interests include labour economics, applied marketing research, and Hong Kong economy.  Prof Lui is very active in public service and was a member of the EcoPark Advisory Committee, Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal Panel and Disciplinary Panel A of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants.  Moreover, he was Council Member of the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority and Deputy Chairman of its Research & Development Committee.

 

The University would like to thank Prof Wong Yiu-chung for his dedicated service and great contribution to the University in the past 33 years, especially during his tenure as Associate Vice-President (Academic Affairs), Director of Core Curriculum and General Education and Acting Registrar.  Prof Wong will retire on 1 July but continue to contribute to the University in his role as Adjunct Professor.

The University has also appointed Mr Edward Shen as Registrar with effect from 3 July.  Mr Shen is a seasoned administrator with around 28 years of extensive administrative experience in local and overseas universities and government offices including The University of Hong Kong, the Shanghai Municipal Government and the University of British Columbia.

On the other hand, the University has appointed Prof Ray Forrest as Research Professor in Cities and Social Change with effect from 21 August.  Prof Forrest currently serves at The City University of Hong Kong as Chair Professor of Housing and Urban Studies and Head of the Department of Public Policy. Prior to that he had worked at the University of Birmingham (UK) and the University of Bristol.  He has also held visiting appointments at the University of Hong Kong, the University of Glasgow and the University of Amsterdam.  He is an Academician of the UK Academy of Social Sciences and Emeritus Professor of Urban Studies at the University of Bristol.
