Main speaker: Prof Marcia Devlin 

Professor Marcia Devlin is an internationally recognised expert in many aspects of higher education, including plagiarism. Her research, refereed publications and practical guides on minimising student plagiarism have been widely read, cited and applied. She has won almost $AUS 6 million in funding and has more than 300 publications including academic, refereed, professional and media outputs. She has held a number of executive and other leadership roles over the past 27 years, most recently as Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education at RMIT University in Melbourne and prior to that as Deputy Vice-Chancellor Learning and Quality at Federation University in Victoria. She is an elected Lifelong Fellow of the Society for Research in Higher Education in the United Kingdom and is a Specialist with the Hong Kong Council for the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications.

Workshop Information:

University student plagiarism is a widespread problem and a worldwide issue. In this workshop and Panel Discussion, we will examine the major trends in minimising plagiarism. Participants will have the opportunity to raise and discuss specific and particular instances of plagiarism and to learn from international research on plagiarism minimisation. This event will be suitable for a wide range of faculty and other staff members – anyone who teaches, administrates or deals with teaching and learning, policy or procedures in relation to plagiarism at institutional, program or course levels.
