Prof. Yau is a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Department of Real Estate and Construction, The University of Hong Kong. Before joining Lingnan University in August 2021, he had lectured and researched in the Department of Public Policy, City University of Hong Kong for over ten years. His research interest includes anti-social behavior in housing, building illegality, housing economics, governance of multi-owned properties, inclusive cities and urban regeneration. Currently, he is the convenor of the Panel of Advisors on Building Management Disputes. Also, he serves as a member of the Appeal Tribunal Panel (Buildings) and SideBySide’s Jockey Club ‘Craft Your Life Together’ Co-living Community Project Building Committee.
