Digital forensics, apart from its applications in investigative works, can be used  to enhance the overall security level and information security governance of an organisation.  At present, most users of digital forensics tools are employees of law enforcement agencies, law firms, big accounting firms, and data recovery companies.  In fact as our epoch develops continuously, digital forensics and daily corporate management should be integrated with each other.

To bridge this gap, the Conference was organised to examine the best practices of information security, digital forensics investigation and data privacy protection from different perspectives.  The Conference met with enthusiastic response with some 220 participants from the education, banking & financing, insurance, industrial and IT & networking sectors, SMEs, NGOs and Government agencies.

In his welcome speech at the Conference, Prof Joshua Mok Ka-ho, Vice-President of Lingnan University pointed out that as Hong Kong aspires to become a competitive global city, questing for excellence in management and good corporate governance is one of the major challenges.

“Living in an internet era, every one of us is well aware of the importance of information security and data privacy.  Lingnan University is honoured to host the First Cyber Security and Digital Forensic Conference to create a platform for scholars and practitioners to explore the new landscape of digital evidence, social media and cyber security.  As the University has strong conviction to nurture caring leaders with global vision, we would like to engage with colleagues from enterprises, SMEs, NGOs and the Government to discuss the important issues related to cyber security and prospects for digital forensic,” said Prof Mok.
