Welcoming new hostel tutors to the hostel family

Organised by the Student Services Centre, the Hostel Staff Orientation 2016-17 was held on 9 September to welcome 10 new hostel tutors to join the hostel family. With the passion and devotion on student growth and development, the hostel tutors will support the educational roles of student hostels. 
 
To prepare the hostel tutors to take up the role, the orientation included a briefing to provide them with information about student hostels and a workshop on student case handling. The briefing session enhanced hostel tutors’ understanding about the missions of the University on full residence, the hostel policies and management, tutors’ roles and responsibilities. Conducted by SSC counsellor, the workshop introduced the support of counsellors to Warden’s Offices, strengthened tutors’ attitude and skills in case management through a series of interactive group tasks.
 
Hostel life is an essential part of Lingnan’s campus life and liberal arts education. Hostel tutors are one of the major forces for enriching students’ hostel experience. The pastoral care, encouragement and advice from hostel tutors are invaluable to students and facilitate them to benefit the most from hostel education.
