Visit to the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) on 24 November 2023

Each year, the IMCSP programme offers its students an opportunity to join an international academic policy symposium in the Asia Pacific in collaboration with its local and international partners. This year, we are delighted to have our students participate in the Gerontech and Innovation Expo cum Summit (GIES) on 24 November 2023, which is the largest gerontechnology public education event in Hong Kong.

GIES provides a platform for stakeholders to engage in dialogue and collaboration for the broader adoption of gerontech. It further helps to drive policy changes and societal and economic developments in Hong Kong to meet the challenges brought about by population ageing and disability.

By joining the forum and plenary sessions and exhibition, students examined social and public policy, management, and governance issues, which allowed them to actively enhance their learning and research experiences.

Field Visit to Crossroads Foundation on 24 August 2023

The IMCSP programme organised the first field visit for our new students on 24 August 2023. This time, we visited a Hong Kong-based non-profit organization, Crossroads Foundation, which connects those with resources and those who need help in Hong Kong and internationally.

During the field visit, we joined the immersive simulation “Struggle for Survival”, which gave us an experience of needs like urban poverty. We had to earn enough “money” to survive by making paper bags out of newspaper and homemade glue to pay for rent, food, sanitation, medical needs, and education. This simulation is not just a team-building activity but allowed us to step into the shoes of vulnerable people, enhance our awareness of societal issues, and gain greater knowledge of global challenges.

Stay tuned for more upcoming events in IMCSP!
