Programme and Curriculum Committee (PCC)

Term of reference

  • a)To consider the programme including the design, implementation and review of the curricula and make decisions.
  • b)To liaise with the Department of Economics concerned on programme matters such as course offerings for each academic year.
  • c)To liaise with the Registry/School of Graduate Studies on all academic matters including review of academic regulations and examination matters.
  • d)To review admissions policy for the programme.
  • e)To deal with all academic matters related to the programme.
  • Membership
    Chairman: Head of the Department of Economics, Programme Director of MIBF Programme
    Members: The teaching staff contributing towards teaching courses in the programme
    Secretary: To be appointed by the Chairman

    Board of Examiners (BoE)

    Term of reference

    1. To maintain the academic standards of the programme at a level appropriate to the type of award.
    2. To approve examination question papers after considering the views and recommendations of External Academic Advisers*, where appropriate..
    3. To maintain general supervision of the system of continuous assessment, where it applies..
    4. To maintain the proper conduct of examinations.
    5. To determine students' examination results.
    6. To assess the progress of students and to report its decisions, including its recommendations for award classification, to the Undergraduate Examinations Board (undergraduate programmes) or the Postgraduate Studies Committee (postgraduate programmes).
    7. To consider appeals referred to it by the Registrar.

    Staff-Student Consultation Committee (SSCC)

    The Staff-Student Consultation Committee (SSCC) provides a platform for students to express their views on the programme and individual courses, and for the departments/academic units to solicit student feedback on specific aspects of the Programme and courses for continuous improvement. The terms of reference of the Committee are:

    1. To promote understanding between students and teaching staff.
    2. To consider feedback from students regarding teaching, learning and course evaluation and issues of importance for enhancing teaching and learning quality.
    3. To consider any other matters of concern to students.
    4. To review and monitor the learning and teaching quality assurance mechanisms and processes within the programme.
    5. To provide feedback to students on changes made to courses and teaching in response to the Course Teaching and Learning Evaluation exercise.
    6. To formulate strategies in helping students to learn more effectively.
    Membership
    Chairman: Programme Director or his/her representative
    Members: At least two staff members teaching for the Programme in the current academic year
    At least 3 student representatives from variety of education/training/working backgrounds in current academic year
    Co-opted Members: If any, up to two co-opted members as appropriate member
    Secretary: To be appointed by the Chairman
